The story of Casa Rica begins in the 1920s, when Mr. Walter Lange, a merchant; and Mr. Benedikto Hiebl, a baker, arrived in Asunción - Paraguay from Germany. Mr. Walter was working in the field of international trade. Mr. Benedikto intially worked as a mason and after several jobs in the Villarrica area, he started his modest bread production and door-to-door selling service. This was the beginning of a work culture.
Hertha Lange and Juan Carlos Hiebel, their children, met and got married in Asunción in 1970. Juan Carlos's parents owned a large bakery. In November 1972, the couple opened a branch of this bakery, with a confectionery and a self-service section. However, shortly after theyr first son Oliver was born, Hertha decided to become a full-time mother for him and for the children that would come later: Birgit and Harald.
Our story began with the early days of Expo Feria in Mariano Roque Alonso when the leadership of the Paraguayan Industrial Union asked Mrs. Hertha, known as Mrs. Mushi, to set up a food stall on the premises.
She did so, and even in the midst of the hardships of that time, she showcased a small stall decorated like a little house, where hot dogs and cool drinks were offered. The cleanliness, superior quality of the bread, and friendly service made everyone flock to the "casita rica" (little house with delicious food), which could barely keep up with such demand.
In April 1989, Mrs. Hertha once again felt the need to embark on a new venture, and she opened the doors of Casa Rica: a family bakery and food stand designed to satisfy all tastes in an environment that paid great attention to detail, located at Aviadores del Chaco and San Martin.
It was a small personal project inspired by the lessons she had learned from her travels and her unique taste, seeking to delight the palates of Paraguayans with her famous German dishes, cooked with great love.

Over the years, we began to nurture the dream of having our own store, so we acquired the property located on España Avenue, and we inaugurated it in 2013. There and then, another dream started taking shape: El Molinillo, which began as a café and has now become a gastronomic reference in the local scene. It was time for Oliver, Birgit and Harald to take over the management, and so they did.
With the same philosophy, aiming to meet customer demand and provide convenience, four years later, in 2017, we opened a second store on Molas López Avenue.
